Existing Lutheran Medical Center Campus in Wheat Ridge, CO

In Wheat Ridge, CO, Intermountain Health (formerly SCL Health) is nearing completion of the award winning new campus. With over 100 years of use since 1905, the Lutheran Medical Center is a testament of dedicated service to the local community. Originally used as a tuberculosis sanitarium, the campus has continued to expand and offer additional medical services eventually achieving the rank of a Level II trauma facility. History is being made as the facility is rebuilt from the ground up to further improve capabilities, access and care for all patients. With deep roots in the local community and nearly 2,000 employees, Lutheran Medical Center has grown to become one of the largest employers in the Wheat Ridge area. Reflecting the strong community ties, Intermountain Health leaned on input from residents to guide both the development of the new campus and inform decisions about the future of the existing facility's 100-acre campus when it is retired. This project provides the rare opportunity to improve the hospital's capacity, capabilities and quality of medical care for future generations.

The New Lutheran Medical Center Campus

The new state-of-the-art facility is being constructed by Denver based General Contractor; NexCore Group. The development is taking place on a 28-acre site at the Clear Creek Crossing development, a strategic choice that improves emergency access to residents of Jefferson County and West Denver through I-70, Hwy. 93 and 6th Ave. The improvements to the facility will benefit both patients and staff with efficiency and comfort in mind. Patients will have access to a calming atrium, increased sunlight in each room thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, and workplace efficiencies to keep patents closer to care providers while reducing noise. In addition, the campus will also increase capacity for emergency and critical care with the ability to convert any room to ICU status if the need arises. When complete, the five-story, 130,000-square-foot medical office building (MOB) will be the most well-designed, efficient, and flexible healthcare facility in the Front Range area. The project has received the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation's Gateways Award of "Project of the Year" in 2022, underlining its significance in healthcare infrastructure development.

Safe and Effective Trackout Control

The project has progressed on time and on budget thanks to exceptional management and the skilled construction crews of over 1,000 workers per day who continue working to make this hospital a reality. During development, multiple site entrance and exit locations would be installed and relocated during various phases of construction. The FODS Trackout Control System was the obvious choice for the Stabilized Construction Entrance BMP, and have continued to perform on this project for multiple years in all weather conditions. The FODS Trackout Control System provides a consistent and cost reducing solution to controlling sediment tracking during construction, reduce labor and helps to improve site safety and local water quality. Effective sediment control is vital to minimize delays and also demonstrates care for the surrounding community by keeping the public roadways clean and safe.
